Humor is my favorite section....I love to laugh and make other people laugh. But I do look at creative things from time to time and draw inspiration from others. That is where this card comes from. The lady's blog is called Crafting with Camile. Here are the cards she made.

I loved the simplicity of this design and used it as inspiration for a birthday card for my Aunt Judy.
Here in my version.

I love how it turned out. The background paper came from a 6x6 Colorbok pad from Walmart. The strips, buttons and birthday hat were all from my stash. I used white embossing powder for the sentiment and a white signo gel pen to draw dash lines around the the edge of the banners.

I had meant to make it in pinks but instead the red just worked better. I used my Cricut and the cartridge New Arrival for the little outfit. This cartridge has some super cute images on it....I don't know why I don't use it more.

I used an old Heidi Swapp stamp--Baby and the "welcome" stamp was from my stash. The lighting is horrid here, it does not do this card any justice.

Thanks for looking!!
I had seen some menu boards on there and loved them, so I decided to make one myself.

I bought the frame and stand from Joanns. The frame was 50% off so I got it for 5.00 and I used a coupon on the stand. I paid around 8.50 for both items. I used my Cricut for the cuts....Designers Calendar for the days of the week and From my Kitchen for the rest. I matched the colors to my kitchen.

I seem to cook more when I have a menu made out for the week. I have used this for two weeks now and absolutely love it. I write on the glass with a dry erase marker and wipe it off with a paper towel. :)Tracyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04475708455814033971noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1777733764608708087.post-12047897112866802002013-05-12T07:00:00.000-05:002013-05-12T07:00:00.730-05:00Happy Mothers Day!!Happy Mothers Day to all the moms out there.

I love the colors for this card...they are so pretty, especially in person. I took the color scheme from a bouquet of flowers that I gave to her. The image is from the Angel Company, paper from my stash, flowers from Bazill, spellbinders die and a Martha Stewart punch. I colored the image using my Spectrum Noir markers.Tracyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04475708455814033971noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1777733764608708087.post-18802495386978998852013-04-15T16:37:00.000-05:002013-04-15T16:37:11.467-05:00A Couple of CardsA couple of cards I made last month.

This sweet little card was made for an Easter swap. The stamp set is a TAC set that is probably 10 years old.

This was a sketch card I made. The image was sent to my by my Aunt Judy several years ago. I am not sure what brand it was. I colored it with Spectrum Noirs, Bics and Sharpies.
I was supposed to be on jury duty but the courts let us out early. What a perfect day for shopping. I wanted to go to Tuesday Morning, TJ Maxx, JoAnns and Hobby Lobby. I love going to these stores but rarely take the time to go and take my time looking around. I am glad I did on this day because I got some pretty good deals.

My first stop was Hobby Lobby and I found a deal on these spellbinders. The two scalloped edge dies I got for 1.54 each. The leaves die was 4.31. Even though I do have a cricut, I like that I can use this to cut leaves quickly without having to load a cartridge in the cricut. The labels die is Labels Eighteen and I paid 6.47 for that one. Lastly was the sprockets dies and they were 8.99, maybe not a great deal on those but still much cheaper than the 24.99 retail price. I have seen these used on cards and scrapbook pages and they can add so much to a project, so I was glad I found them.

Next was JoAnns....the two smaller stamps go on a roller, but I am just going to use them flat, maybe as a background or something. They were on clearance for .97. The Martha Stewart punch and the big set of stamps were both on clearance for 3.97 each. The only thing that could have made this a better deal was a % off coupon for my entire purchase. I did not have one that was good for the particular day I was shopping.

On to Tuesday Morning. What a great day to shop here. They had all their fall and halloween things 90% off. The stickers pkgs with the haunted house and bats had 6 sheets in each one and I got the entire pkg. for 45 cents. The spiders are blingy and they had 3 pkgs in each set. I bought 4 of these for 22 cents each. Their Christmas items were all 70% off. This pack of Cosmo Cricket paper was with the scrapbook stuff and not the normal Christmas stuff. I took it to the register and asked if it was included in the sale....she asked the manager and was told yes. Yippee. They had it priced at 9.99 but I was able to get it for 3.00. All of their yellow ticketed items were an extra 40% off. I have seen this arrow punch several times before and passed it over. This time it was marked 3.99 and with the extra 40 off I figured why not. It rang up 2.99 and then the extra discount so I was able to get it for 1.80. Now at Tuesday Mornings you can get a shopper rewards card and when you sign up for it you get an extra 20% off that purchase. Score! I got all this for around 5.00. Woop woop!!

I did go to TJ Maxx and that store was a bust. I am so ready for them to get some new items in. Even though they didnt have anything it was still a great deal day anyway.

Thanks for looking!!
I loved it and decided I could make one too. This lady had made it for a Valentines Day card but I needed a birthday card, so I changed it up to fit the need.

The owl came from the blog, CatherineLovesStamps.blogspot.com. The owl is made from punched circles in various sizes. I freehand cut the branch from brown paper and ran it through the cuttlebug with the woodgrain folder. I added flowers from my stash to the branches.

I love this so much that I think I am going to make several to have on hand for birthdays.

Thanks for looking!
For me that is a lot. I am a member of a cardmaking group on YahooGroups and signed up for some swaps this month. While they didn't all have to be a valentine theme, that is just the mood I was in so I went with it.

This card was for my Valentine swap I signed up for. I used the cricut cartridge Storybook for the scrolled heart and a swiss dots cuttlebug folder for the background. I really like the way this one turned out.....the colors pop more in person.

This card was my take on a sketch the group owner put up for January. The supplies were all from my stash and the stamp is from Penny Black.

I think this card turned out sweet. This theme was use your cuttlebug, so I used the Birds and Swirls folder. The birds are from the Create a Critter cricut cartridge. I got the idea for this card from a sticker, I think it was from Bo Bunny.

The last card I created this week doesn't have a Valentine's theme so I will save it for another post...but I will tell you this. It is totally owl-dorable. :)
So, I work in a school cafeteria. The art teacher offered to teach a painting class to some of us lunchladies after school. This is the first class like this I have ever taken but had such a blast, I would love to do it again.

The area around his face kind of reminds me of Ronald McDonald but overall I was proud of my artistic abilities.
Last night I uploaded a bunch of pictures to be printed so I can work on my scrapbooks. I ordered 236 prints from Walgreens and can't wait for them to get here. In the meantime I have some birthdays coming up for family members so I made a card. Gotta start somewhere, right?

Just a simple card that gets right to the point.
My family spent New Years Eve at home. My sister and her family came over and we played games, ate and hung out. We played Trivial Pursuit 80's edition....that was a lot of fun....brought back some memories of my teenage years. Then we played Scattergories. I love this game...probably one of my favorites. Some of the answers are pretty creative and have us all rolling.

Anyway....one more time wishing you all a very happy 2013.
I usually have good intentions to not let this day slip by but most of the time fail on those intentions. This year I actually remembered it. I made a card for my grandmother, who I am still blessed to have on this earth and another one for my mom for my kids to send.

This card was for my Grandmother. It is from a Penny Black stamp. I used my spellbinders, some flowers from my stash, a fiskars butterfly punch and paper from Jillibean Soup.

This card was for my Mom and also has a Penny Black stamp. The paper was from a Prima 6x6 pad called Doodle Deux. I used a spellbinders scalloped oval, the same fiskers butterfly punch and some bling and ribbon from my stash. I bought the ribbon on clearance at Joanns for a quarter. I couldn't believe how well it matched the paper....almost like it was made for it.

Thanks for looking and I hope to be back sooner next time. :)Tracyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04475708455814033971noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1777733764608708087.post-37626255181241142912012-08-13T10:57:00.001-05:002012-08-13T10:57:44.875-05:00Last Day of Summer VacationToday is my last day of summer....tomorrow is the start of another school year. While it will be good to get my family back on a schedule I will still miss the lazy days of summer. I am posting a pic we took on our vacation to North Carolina in June to visit some sweet friends.
This card gave me a bit of trouble...I tried sewing on it but the thread broke right in the middle. I started to trash the entire card, but as I was re-thinking it...I salvaged what I could and went in a different direction. I like this much better than the first idea I had.
I like to scrap chronologically...kinda ocd about keeping things in some kind of order. I had several layouts that were partly done...but needed some titles and journaling. These are some that I finished. They are super simple layouts....and since they go in my 2008 albums...I kept them super simple. My scrapbooking has evolved since then...I do like the style of Shimelle and those similar but didn't want these pages to look too out of place with the rest of the layouts in the book.
I ordered some Mr. Hueys from Joann.com and got them in the mail today. Not really sure what I was expecting, but the bottles seemed way smaller than they have appeared in some other peoples haul videos. This is not the first product to fool me. I thought the Jenni Bowlin inkpads looked larger than they really were, but now that I know...I ordered 3 more. The same goes with some of the stamp sets I've ordered. Do any of you feel the same or am I out there on an island by myself? I am not angry with these products...I look forward to trying them....I just thought they would be bigger. :) Tracyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04475708455814033971noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1777733764608708087.post-31889597144233314602012-07-09T09:22:00.000-05:002012-07-09T09:22:24.232-05:00What I have been up to and a layoutSo April was super busy for me....with school and two weekends in a row away from home. I don't think I will ever plan that again if it can be helped because it was so tiring on me. May we were just trying to finish with school, those of you with children know that the last month is so crazy. Field trips, honors days, money for this and money for that. In June I have spent some time in the craft room....I am changing most all of my albums from post-hinge to 3 ring binders. Why I didn't realize a LONNNNNGGGGG time ago that they were so much easier to use is beyond me.

I have worked on some layouts trying to get caught up....don't know if I ever will. This is one of my husbands birthday from a couple years ago. We were at our favorite mexican restaurant and if they know its your birthday they sing to you, put a sombrero on your head, give you a sopapilla and also smear some cool whip across your nose. I had no idea, but my kids told the waiters when they went to the restroom.
Sorry about that. Life happens and I got lazy. A lot has gone on in the last 3 months and I will update over the next week or so. Anywho, the purpose of this post is to share a card I made with the July card kit from Simon Says Stamp. I just signed up with the monthly subscription on Monday and got the kit yesterday. I know the SSS blog has a gallery where you can post creations made with this kit each month, so I wanted to add mine to that. I made this card with product entirely from the kit with the exception of the twine. I loved this kit and the stamp set that came with it.
I cut out the circles from one of the 6x6 pages and kinda made it into a flower, then curved the stamp to make a stem and used the heart stamp for the leaves. Thanks for looking!
Tracyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04475708455814033971noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1777733764608708087.post-90604995813680394762012-04-07T09:31:00.000-05:002012-04-07T09:31:52.000-05:00Spring Breaks Over...Back to the Real WorldWow...sorry it's been a couple of weeks. I really enjoyed my week off from school, spending time with my Mom and with my girls. But now back to the real world...we get no more days off from school until summer vacation. Anyway...I did not spend hardly any time in my scraproom during my break. I had so many other things to do, when I did have some down time I spent it catching up on some shows on the DVR. I did make some cards. I stamped these images off at my aunt's house several years ago and they have been sitting in a folder ever since. Every now and then I would get one and make a card but this time I decided to color all the remaining ones at the same time and make a set of cards.
I love these little mice! I picked out which background paper I wanted to use first, it was a 6x12 paper pad I got at Hobby Lobby in their Paper Studio brand, and then colored the images to match that line. I put some stickles on the frosting to give it a little bling. The flowers and brads are some from my stash and the ribbon I bought from the $ bin at Target some time ago. When I bought it, it was on clearance for .25...you got 4 or 6 little spools with 18" on each. It took a whole spool for each card but for the price, who cares. :)

Thanks for looking and I will try to be back sooner next time.Tracyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04475708455814033971noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1777733764608708087.post-28154717364481452012012-03-25T22:08:00.000-05:002012-03-25T22:08:03.245-05:00Joann's HaulLast weekend I went to Joann's and was able to snag some of the .97 clearance stamps. I found 10 different sets and also used a 20% off total purchase coupon. Ten sets for 8.00--score!!
Today I went back to Joann's because I had a 25% off total purchase and couldn't let it go to waste. I found several punches and a couple of spellbinders on clearance.

I got a combo border/corner punch..lace and lattice for 4.97, two border punches...scalloped daisy and all-a-fleur for 3.97 each, a squeeze punch..loves me/loves me not and a butterfly lever punch both for 2.97. I found another stamp set that I missed seeing last week and they were still .97.

The Spellbinders were the Labels Two and the Lg. Octagon set. These were on clearance for 5.97. I also picked up some cardstock that was on sale for 1.99 each. So I got all this for roughly 28.00 plus tax. Maybe I can find some time during this week off to play with my new toys! After spring break the time will fly until summer....WooHoo!! I love my job but I also love being able to get some much needed R&R.

On to the card. I put this together last night using Amy R as my inspiration. Her blog is called Paper Prairie and Ink and I love the way she puts her cards together. I used a tree stamp from Stampendous, some BG paper from the Pyrus collection and just some kraft cardstock from Hobby Lobby.

I used Bic Mark-its to color the tree. I really want some copics but just can't justify the cost at this time. Maybe down the road.

Have a great weekend!!
I hesistated for a few minutes over this deal and then decided hey, why not? Here is what I received.

In this picture I got an American Crafts album with a "baby kit" to go with it. It included stickers, letter stickers, foam die cuts and some Flair buttons. I also got some Petaloo Dazzlers, some BG glazed brads that I know are from a Christmas collection, but not sure which one. I got some BG micro mono letters, some Cosmo Cricket glittered chipboard letters and some Kaiser craft Fozz Font letters. I love these, they are felt and a very pretty pink.

In this picture I got some 7 Gypsies rub-ons. They are from the Hudson Valley collection. I got the letters and journal rub-ons and I also got some frames and tags stickers of that same collection. From Sassafras I got some cardstock stickers, some button blossoms and 2 pkgs of Felties--Under the Sea and Party time. From Petaloo I got some stitched felties letters, some blue rhinestones from Kaiser and some BG clear stamps--Shield.

In this last photo I got the Fancy Pants 'Dancing Girl' Mega kit. A pkg. of BG chipboard stickers--Euphoria. Crate Paper rub-ons in the Brook Collection. Some Fancy Pants buttons--Oct. 31. Some American Crafts 'Thanks' stamps and some Flair badges--Beauty.

I am pleased with my purchase. I wished I could have gotten a different kit from the one I received...I do have two girls but neither one took dance. I can still use 90% of the stuff in this kit for other things though. So all in all....I got 21 seperate items plus the Baby Album kit plus the Dancing Girl mega kit. I think I got my moneys worth and would order a grag bag again. :)
Tracyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04475708455814033971noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1777733764608708087.post-27992285945961653302012-03-10T08:08:00.000-06:002012-03-10T08:08:14.081-06:00Basic Grey Card KitsTwo or three months ago I read where lots of people were getting the Basic Grey card kits at Ross. We just got a Ross last year, Yay!! so I drove over to see if I could find some. They only had 4 so I bought those and these are the first ones I made. It is from the Pyrus collection and I must admit I did not like these when I saw the package but bought them anyway because hey, its Basic Grey....can't go wrong with that. After I started working on them, I love them.
